The Finnish–Hungarian May Day, Vappu, is one of the most popular spring celebrations in Finnish culture, and in Geresdlak it is a special occasion for Finnish and Hungarian communities to meet. The event celebrates Finnish traditions, the welcome of spring and community belonging with music, cultural programmes, shared meals, family activities and playful tradition-keeping games such as Finnish boot throwing.
